Anatomy is they branch of science (Biology) concerned with the study of the structure of the organism and their parts, it deals with the structural organisation of living things. Its origin goes back to the prehistoric times, It can be further divided as Developmental Biology, Embryology, Comparative Anatomy, Evolutionary Biology & Phylogeny, all these processes lead to the generation of anatomy with immediate (embryological) and long (evolutionary) timescales. Human anatomy is the essential science applied in medicine.

Anatomy can also be divided into Macroscopic and Microscopic Anatomy. Macroscopic or gross anatomy is the study of the body parts using naked eyesight, it includes the branch of superficial anatomy, while Microscopic anatomy includes the use of optical devices to examine tissues of various anatomical structures, this is also known as Histology.

The history of anatomy can be characterised as a progressive advancement in the understanding of the various Structures of the human body and the function of associated organs. Methods used for conducting experiments have also advanced from studying carcasses and cadaver’s to medical imaging techniques like X-ray, ultrasound & Magnetic resonance imaging.
